A report recommending the Glen Abbey property at 1333 Dorval Dr. be designated under the Ontario Heritage Act will come before the town’s heritage committee on Tuesday, Aug. 15.

The matter will be heard at 9:30 a.m., in council chambers at Oakville’s Town Hall.

Members of the public are being invited to attend and provide comment and feedback on the proposed heritage designation.

The heritage committee’s decision regarding the proposed designation will be part of the information provided to town council during its Monday, Aug. 21 meeting.

The Glen Abbey property is already designated under the Ontario Heritage Act, however, that designation only applies to the Raydor Estate House.

The new proposal would label the entire property as a significant cultural heritage landscape.

Interest in the Glen Abbey Golf Course has intensified in recent months following owner ClubLink’s application to build 3,222 residential units including nine nine-to-12-storey apartment buildings on the property.

Town council will examine that proposal during a Tuesday, Sept. 26 meeting.

Those interested in speaking to the proposal to designate the Glen Abbey property under the Ontario Heritage Act or in providing written comments to the committee can contact the clerk's department at townclerk@oakville.ca or at 905-815-6015 to make arrangements.
